No injuries were reported after a fire sparked at a strip mall in Pineridge on Monday. Alex Kwan, public information officer with the Calgary Fire Department, says crews were called to a business in the 3200 block of 60 Street N.E. just after 9 a.m. Crews arrived to find flames and smoke coming from one of the middle units in the mall. Firefighters entered the building and quickly extinguished the blaze. “There was a mix of businesses — some of them opened some of them closed,” Kwan said. “All the open businesses did have occupants who were able to get out safely. “ Kwan said firefighters had to force entry into some of the neighbouring businesses to ensure the fire hadn’t extended to them. It’s not known if the business had a working smoke detector.
