The North Bay Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police has charged a commercial motor vehicle driver following a collision involving a railway bridge in East Ferris Township. On Oct. 28 around 1:15 p.m., members of the North Bay OPP responded to a report of a CMV that had become lodged beneath a rail bridge on Derland Road in East Ferris Township. “Upon arrival, officers found the CMV stuck beneath the bridge, with debris scattered across the roadway,” police said in an Oct. 30 news release. “Derland Road was closed while emergency responders and partner agencies worked to assess the scene and safely remove the vehicle.” The driver, a 57-year-old resident of Whitby, was charged under the Highway Traffic Act with disobeying a sign.
