Winnipeg police are investigating after a security guard was stabbed at a Portage Avenue Dollarama on Tuesday afternoon. Officers were called to the store in the 2700 block of Portage Avenue at 4 p.m., where they found a 22-year-old security guard suffering from a serious upper-body injury. He was taken to hospital in unstable condition but was later upgraded to stable. Police said the guard confronted a man inside the store about suspected shoplifting and directed him to leave. Officers allege the man stabbed the guard in the upper body with a “sharp-edged weapon,” and ran from the scene with stolen merchandise. No arrest has been made.
