A 19-year-old woman was killed early Tuesday afternoon when the passenger vehicle she was in collided with a tractor-trailer on Highway 11-17. The tragedy took place just after 12:30 p.m. Aug. 25 at the intersection of Mapleward Road and Highway 11-17, Ontario Provincial Police said in a news release Aug. 26. “One individual, a 19-year-old female from Thunder Bay, was transported to hospital where she was pronounced deceased,” the OPP said. “A section of Highway 11-17 was closed for several hours while the OPP traffic incident management enforcement team conducted their investigation, but it has since reopened.” Anyone who witnessed the collision or has dashcam footage from the area at the time of the incident is asked to contact the OPP at 1-888-310-1122.
