A 22-year-old man from Winnipeg has been charged in connection with a shooting in northern Manitoba that left a man dead and prompted a community-wide lockdown over the weekend. According to RCMP, Mounties arrested a 22-year-old man on Wednesday without incident. He has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 42-year-old man on July 31 in Pimicikamak Cree Nation. He remains in custody and the charge has not been proven in court. The shooting prompted a lockdown in the northern Manitoba community that was lifted on Aug 2 to allow RCMP to search for a suspect. RCMP said the suspect was arrested on a break-and-enter charge and an outstanding warrant initially. “Major Crimes Services investigators continued their homicide investigation and were able to gather enough evidence to lay a charge of (second) degree murder against the same individual,” an RCMP spokesperson told CTV News. RCMP continues to investigate.
