Furry Friends Animal Shelter in Barrie says it takes an “astronomical” amount of food to keep more than 60 kittens from going hungry. The animal shelter has taken to social media to put out a request for donations. The shelter says it currently houses 60 kittens, approximately 20 of which are newborns. Some of the kittens are in the shelter with their mothers, but many are not. “In order to take care of all of the moms and babies that are relying on us, we are in serious need of Kitten Milk Replacement (KMR) formula, unscented baby wipes, and canned kitten wet food,” the shelter said in a post online. On Thursday, Furry Friends updated the post, sharing that it had recently received a large donation of KMR. The organization said it was grateful for the donation, but the KMR is mainly of use to kittens who are bottle-fed. It stated the need for canned wet food and other daily supplies continues in order to provide care for the growing and mature cats. For more information, visit the organization’s website.
