An Edmonton man has been charged with the sexual assault of a young child, and police believe there may be other victims. Simon Nicholas, 50, also known as Ambrose Nicholas, was charged on July 29 with sexual assault, sexual interference and two counts of breaching a court order. Officers also executed warrants from Athabasca RCMP for a sexual assault of another young child. At the time of the Edmonton reports, Nicholas was subject to court-ordered conditions that prohibited contact with children under 16 and that restricted access to locations frequented by children. In both cases, it is reported that Nicholas presented himself to a parent as someone who could be trusted to care for young children. Support is available to anyone affected by sexual violence through local services or through the Edmonton Police Service (EPS). Anyone with information about Nicholas is asked to contact the EPS at 780-423-4567 or #377 from a mobile phone, or anonymously through Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
