Parts of Manitoba’s southwest are currently under a heat warning on Saturday. Environment and Climate change Canada issued the yellow warning for the southwest corner of the province, including Virden, Boissevain, Waskada and Melita. “Temperatures reaching 32 degrees Celsius combined with overnight lows near 18 degrees Celsius are expected for the next two days,” ECCC said in a bulletin. The warm conditions are expected to moderate Sunday as a cold front moves through the area. ECCC is reminding Manitobans in the area to keep their house cool, drink lots of water and stay out of direct sunlight to avoid heat illnesses. Signs of heat illnesses include swelling, rash, cramps and fainting, while signs of heat stroke include hot skin, a headache, dizziness or confusion. They add to check on family, friends and neighbours, and check regularly on people living alone, especially older people and those with health conditions.
