City officials gathered for a groundbreaking ceremony to mark the start of construction on 48 new homes in downtown Windsor. Windsor Mayor Drew Dilkens, downtown councillor Renaldo Agostino, members of city council and city administration and representatives from Pelissier Park Ltd., celebrated the official groundbreaking of the Pelissier Park housing development on Monday. The $16.8-million project will deliver 48 new residential units in downtown Windsor and marks another major milestone under the City of Windsor’s Housing Solutions Made for Windsor (HSMFW) initiative. The three-storey townhouse development project is led by Pelissier Park Ltd., a partnership of BK Cornerstone Design Build, Philip Fernandes Designs, and Realty ONE Group Iconic. “Breaking ground on Pelissier Park is a proud moment for our entire team and an important milestone for Housing Solutions Made for Windsor. As the first project to begin construction under the program, it demonstrates what can be accomplished when the city and the development community work together with a shared purpose,” said Brent Klundert, owner and developer of Pelissier Park and president of BK Cornerstone Design Build.The project features 48 residential units, including 32 two-bedroom townhome suites with single-car garages, eight accessible one-bedroom suites, and eight affordable one-bedroom suites. Officials say the development has been designed to complement the surrounding neighbourhood while creating new opportunities for residents to live in the downtown core. The project features landscaped streetscapes, integrated parking, private second-floor terraces, elevated living spaces, and construction built to Energy Star standards to support long-term sustainability and affordability. “The $16.8 million vision for Pelissier Park was the second major development announcement under our housing initiative, and now becomes the first project to get shovels in the ground to build homes residents need and want. This development also reflects substantial work underway to revitalize the downtown core through our Strengthen the Core plan,” said mayor Drew Dilkens. The Pelissier Park housing development aims to build on the momentum of other Housing Solutions Made for Windsor projects currently moving forward across the city.
