Police in Moncton, N.B., are investigating a dangerous driving incident that took place over the weekend. A video shared on social media shows a young man on the roof of a vehicle driving down Vaughn Harvey Boulevard Sunday afternoon. Another young man is hanging out the driver’s side window at the same time. “We are aware of a video circulating on social media that appears to show youth riding on top of a moving vehicle,” said RCMP spokesperson Cpl. Hans Ouellette. “We are currently gathering information regarding the incident, including any police involvement.” Ouellette told CTV News he expects to have an update available later Monday. Kelsie-Ann Balcom took the video from the passenger seat of her car around 1:15 p.m. Sunday. Shortly afterwards, she posted the 30-second video on a community Facebook page. The video has since been shared by several other groups. “I just wanted the parents to see and RCMP,” wrote Balcom. “No one wants to witness them falling and having serious issues with our health-care system being the way it is. Heaven forbid some innocent person drove over them if they fell. So damn scary.” Christina Robichaud said she was out for a walk on Twin Oaks Drive around 1:30 p.m. Sunday when she saw a black car with teenagers hanging outside the windows going up the street at top speed. Richard called 911 and shortly afterwards said she saw the car driving on the sidewalk near the YMCA Moncton North’s skate park. “I was quite shaken by it. I was shocked, absolutely,” said Robichaud. “There were children playing at the skate park.” The car then pulled into the parking lot of the YMCA and Robichaud said she saw the vehicle doing burnouts. “I immediately identified this as a massive safety risk. There was a lot of reckless endangerment here,” said Robichaud. “When they sped out, they nearly hit two cars on the way. It was really terrifying.” More to come...
