A house reported as a problem property in Sherwood Park caught fire overnight Sunday. Strathcona County firefighters received a report of the blaze at 58 Glengarry Cres at 2 a.m. and extinguished it by 3:30 a.m. Both fire department and Strathcona County RCMP personnel continue to investigate the incident. A spokesperson for Strathcona County said the house is still standing and that the fire did not damage neighbouring properties. The home has been the source of dozens of complaints for months and had resulted in Alberta Health Services issuing a notice for its residents to leave the property, which was seemingly ignored. Some complaints reported by neighbours centre around attacks by dogs from the house, several cats heading in and out, bicycle and bicycle parts strewn over the property, and transient people accessing the home and vans dropping off boxes of unknown goods at it between midnight and 6 a.m. RCMP said last month it has been working with county enforcement services and other agencies since the fall to deal with the issues around the home. Strathcona County Mayor Rod Frank said says the issue is largely out of his hands and is hoping provincial health authorities will take further action.
