A new scholarship will honour the memories of Chloe and Aubrey Berry, the two young sisters found murdered in an Oak Bay apartment on Christmas Day.
A family spokesperson says the Chloe and Aubrey Berry Scholarship Fund has been set up in partnership with the Victoria Foundation to help support students at Christ Church Cathedral School, where six-year-old Chloe attended.
Those wanting to donate to the fund can do so with a credit card by phone at 250-381-5532 or online on the Canada Helps website.
The fund is also accepting donations by cheque, which can be mailed to #200-703 Broughton Street, Victoria, BC., V8W 1E2 and must be made out to The Victoria Foundation.
The girls were honoured by hundreds of people this past weekend in an emotional candelight vigil at Willows Beach.
Chloe, 6, and Aubrey, 4, were remembered as bright lights with beaming smiles.
Caregivers described Aubrey as kind and loving with a creative streak, while Chloe often played peacemaker to her friends at school.
“She would literally insert herself in the middle of the dynamic and begin to negotiate a settlement among her friends,” said Stuart Hall, principal of Christ Church Cathedral School.
Friends of the girls' mother Sarah Cotton have said there will be some form of public memorial for the girls when the time is right.
The girls' father, Andrew Berry, has been charged with two counts of second-degree murder in their deaths and made his first court appearance on Thursday.
