Police are searching for an inmate from the Prince Albert Correctional Centre who was released from custody in error almost three weeks ago. Brednor Wahpistikwan, 30, has been at large since an administration error resulted in his release from custody on May 28, 2026, according to an update from the province on Tuesday. He was required to remain in custody in relation to four weapons-related offences until his scheduled court appearance on July 14. The public is warned not to approach him and report any sightings to police. He has known ties with Big Island Cree Nation, according to the update. Wahpistikwan is described as five foot nine inches and 160 pounds. He has black hair, brown eyes, a tattoo of a potion bottle on his right arm, and a heart tattoo on his right hand. Both the Prince Albert Police Service and Pierceland RCMP have been notified. Anyone who sees Wahpistikwan or has information about his whereabouts, is asked to contact police, RCMP, or Crime stoppers.
