Saskatchewan RCMP say they seized 22 large bottles of alcohol and suspended five drivers during patrols in the Pelican Narrows area. In a news release sent Friday, RCMP said traffic services officers were deployed to the Pelican Narrows RCMP detachment area between Aug. 10 and Aug. 16, as part of the Saskatchewan RCMP’s northern relief program. During three separate stops, the RCMP says officers seized a total of 22 bottles of alcohol, each containing 66 ounces. “These proactive traffic stops are proving effective at helping to reduce criminality and keep the population safe,” said Inspector Lee Knelsen. “We encourage residents to support these efforts by driving safely and reporting impaired drivers and criminal activity.” According to RCMP, five drivers were suspended and their vehicles removed from the road for consuming alcohol or drugs before driving.
