Murder charges laid against two teens in Prince Albert homicide

Two teens have been charged with second-degree murder in connection with the death of a 27-year-old woman in Prince Albert.

Prince Albert police say a 16-year-old boy and a 15-year-old girl were charged after their arrests on Thursday in the homicide of Daina Gauthier.

Officers were called to a report of a stabbing in the 100 block of 14th Street East at about 1:55 a.m. on July 30. When police arrived, they found Daina Gauthier suffering from serious injuries and began providing first aid before paramedics arrived.

Parkland Ambulance transported her to hospital, where she later died.

An autopsy completed on July 30 determined Gauthier’s death was a homicide, according to police.

Police say there are no outstanding persons of interest, and no additional charges are expected.

Police say both teens have been remanded in custody and are scheduled to make their first court appearance in Prince Albert Provincial Court on Aug. 4.
