Calgary police say one person has been charged in connection with a violent downtown assault last month. The incident happened near the intersection of Stephen Avenue and Second Street S.W. at 1:46 a.m. on Sunday, June 14. Police say three men witnessed a man and woman in a verbal argument, at which time one of the men approached to check on the woman. “Investigators believe the male suspect then assaulted all three victims without warning,” police said in a July 3 news release. Two of the victims suffered serious injuries while the third suffered minor injuries. On July 31, police issued an update saying a 23-year-old had been charged with one count of assault and one count of assault causing bodily harm. He’s scheduled to appear in court next on Aug. 20.
