A motorcyclist who was seriously injured in a Nanaimo crash has died from his injuries, the BC Coroners Service confirms.
Duncan resident Andre Leon Blignaut, 54, was riding his motorcycle when the crash occurred in the intersection of Nicol at Needham streets just before 6 a.m. Monday.
Police say a Honda Prelude was turning left in the intersection when the vehicles collided.
Paramedic rushed Blignaut to Nanaimo Regional General Hospital and he was airlifted to Vancouver General Hospital, but succumbed to his injuries shortly after.
The driver of the Honda was emotionally distraught but did not suffer any injuries.
A coroner and Nanaimo RCMP are still investigating the death.
Blignaut’s family has been notified and is asking for privacy at this time, the coroner’s release said.
