A trial is underway for an Alberta Mountie accused of misusing police record systems to help the Republic of Rwanda. Const. Eli Ndatuje faces charges under the Criminal Code and the Security of Information Act. The 39-year-old has pleaded not guilty. Crown prosecutor Kent Brown says he plans to present a case based primarily on records and call 13 witnesses. He says evidence will show the officer accessed the police database and passed on information. Ndatuje’s lawyer says he’ll argue the Mountie was simply helping a friend at the Rwandan High Commission on a missing person’s case.
