The Winnipeg Police Service (WPS) is taking extra safety measures following a shooting outside an Ontario synagogue on Sunday night. In a social post, police said they are aware of the incident and will be increasing their presence at gathering spaces and places of worship throughout Winnipeg. “Our thoughts are with the Jewish community across Canada during this time, as well as with the officer in Belleville who remains in hospital,” the post said. The precautions are in response to a shooting outside the Sons of Jacob Synagogue in Belleville that left two people, including a police officer, critically injured.
