A clinic in Strathmore has announced it will be closing its doors at the end of the year. All four of the physicians working at Valley Medical Clinic have plans to retire. Dr. Ward Fanning says it was a recent group decision. “My colleagues felt it was time and we wanted to go out as a team,” he said. The clinic has upwards of 5,000 patients. As of now, there is no plan to find replacement doctors, though a staff member did tell CTV News on Tuesday that they hope someone might be found to take over the clinic in 2027. Fanning says there are already interested parties. “Our hope is that there will be a complete continuity of care, and as we fade off, new physicians will fade in.” Valley Medical has been providing family medicine and some walk-in appointments to the town since 1985. It is not — and has not been, as of late — accepting new patients. Strathmore, a town of about 16,400 residents, has four other clinics currently operating.
