One driver has been airlifted to hospital, and another was pulled from a burning vehicle, after a crash in Waterford. On Monday, Ontario Provincial Police Sergeant Ed Sanchuk posted a video to social media just after 8 p.m. He said police, paramedics and the fire department were called to a collision between an SUV and another vehicle at the intersection of Thompson Road East and Duncombe Road around 6 p.m. “What I can tell you is that there was a collision, the SUV burst into flames,” Sanchuk said. “A Good Samaritan heard this crash, came out and rescued that driver from that burning SUV.” The driver in the other vehicle was airlifted to hospital with serious injuries. The intersection was closed while investigators worked. Sanchuk was unsure how long the closure would be in place, but he believed it could last for “quite some time.”
