A Taber, Alta., resident took an unorthodox approach to telling his wife they were $100,000 richer. Vonie Prioles was sitting in his car checking lottery tickets on his Lotto Spot app on his phone, when one of them turned out to be a $100,000 winner. “I couldn’t believe my eyes,” Prioles said. And yet it was a winner -- a Lotto Max ticket Prijoles bought from the 7-11 at 5023 50 Avenue in Taber that was a winner in the May 5 Lotto Max draw with matching numbers 5,6,15,19,32, 36 and 38. “I was wondering how to tell my wife, and I wanted to wait until she got home,” Prijoles said. “The first thing I said to her when she walked in the door is, ‘We have a problem!’” Happily for his wife, the problem was how to spend $100,000. “She was stunned,” Prijoles said. The family figured out a good use for the money. “I am planning to save it and pay for my sons’ college education,” he said. “It just feels surreal.”
