Provincial police say the last of two suspects wanted in connection with a break-and-enter at a local business is now in custody. A 39-year-old Algonquin Highlands man was arrested on Tuesday, months after the theft occurred. Police say the incident dates back to Feb. 21, when police officers responded to a call of a break-and-enter at Shelburne Iron and Metal Yard in Melancthon Township, where multiple items were stolen. On Feb. 27, police identified a vehicle believed to be connected to the investigation. Incidentally, earlier that morning, the same vehicle police identified, had failed to stop for a R.I.D.E. check in Shelburne and police say that helped them locate the vehicle. OPP executed a search warrant at a residence in Shelburne on March 6, but no arrests were made. Police say they did find evidence as a result of the warrant that helped them identify the accused as well as some of the stolen items. Among the recovered items, police say, were copper wire, a chainsaw and footwear and clothing believed to be worn during the crime. On March 18, police arrested and charged a 58-year-old Shelburne woman with possession of property obtained by crime. The 39-year-old male arrested Tuesday was charged with break and enter, flight from police, two counts of possession of property obtained by crime, and a charge of theft under $5,000.
