Southern Ontario is set for another stretch of sunny, comfortable weather, with high pressure keeping conditions dry and seasonal through the remainder of the work week, according to CTV News meteorologist Julie Atchison. “Lots of sunshine today,” Atchison said, noting sunny skies will persist through the afternoon with only a few fair-weather clouds expected. Northerly winds will help keep humidity levels in check, making for comfortable conditions despite a forecast high of 25 C. The stable weather pattern is expected to remain in place over the next several days as a strong area of high pressure dominates the region. While eastern Ontario is dealing with significant rainfall associated with an upper-level trough, including a special weather statement for torrential rain and abundant moisture, Atchison said much of southern Ontario will remain clear and dry. “Our area of high pressure continues to dominate our weather forecast,” she said, bringing sunny skies and pleasant conditions into Thursday and Friday. Looking ahead to the holiday weekend, temperatures are expected to trend warmer, reaching the upper 20s on Saturday. Cloud cover is forecast to increase later in the day, with a chance of rain developing overnight. Sunday and Monday are currently expected to bring mainly cloudy skies or a mix of sun and cloud, with daytime highs ranging from 23 C to 26 C. However, Atchison cautioned that the holiday weekend forecast remains uncertain. “There are still lots of questions about the holiday weekend forecast as we get closer,” she said. “We’ll continue to look at the forecast models and the probability of showers over the weekend, so the timing could change.”
