Provincial police have laid charges against two members of the Nishnawbe-Aski Police Service (NAPS). Orillia OPP say an investigation into two NAPS officers began last year at the request of the NAPS Chief. Under the direction of the OPP Professional Standards Unit, an investigation was conducted into on-duty incidents involving both officers. On Sept. 22, Orillia OPP arrested and charged a 25-year-old NAPS officer from Thunder Bay, Ont., with fraud over $5,000 and breach of trust by a public officer. Six days later, a 32-year-old NAPS officer from Murillo, Ont., was arrested by OPP and is facing the same charges. OPP did not provide information on the nature of the charges. The accused have since been released from custody and are due back in court in Thunder Bay in December.
