Mounties are investigating after a man’s body was discovered at a park in Sooke on Wednesday morning.

RCMP were called around 8:30 a.m. to the grounds of the former John Philip Memorial Golf Club, near the District of Sooke office after a pedestrian came across the body.

The area has been sealed off as officers investigate.

Police are asking the public to stay away from the park for the day.

“It’s not deemed suspicious, but the circumstances are that it merits a full investigation,” said Staff Sgt. Jeff McArthur.

The man’s identity and cause of death are unknown at this time.
