The Winnipeg Sea Bears confirmed they will be without their leading scorer for an upcoming playoff game after he was attacked in downtown Winnipeg over the weekend. The Canadian Elite Basketball League (CEBL) team said in a Tuesday statement that Teddy Allen is still recovering from his injuries following the Sunday night incident. The team alleges Allen was attacked by security staff at a downtown nightclub. “Teddy’s health injuries are significant and, while he has been released from hospital, he will require further diagnosis, follow up care and potentially surgery, which means he will not be available for our playoff game this coming Thursday,” the statement from the team reads. The Sea Bears said they are cooperating with the Winnipeg Police Service on the investigation. The Winnipeg Police Service said Tuesday the investigation into the incident is ongoing. Allen led the CEBL in scoring with 667 points in 24 games this season. The Sea Bears host the Saskatoon Mamba on Thursday at Canada Life Centre at 7:30 p.m.
