The Victoria SPCA hopes the public can help a cat in need of surgery after it was struck by a car.

A good samaritan found the stray feline in the Sooke area.

Marilyn the cat is suffering from a broken hip and abdominal hernia, the SPCA says.

“This sweet girl needs surgery to fix her injuries, which may also include a diaphragmatic hernia, which causes her to struggle to breathe,” said Victoria BC SPCA branch manager, Annie Prittie Bell.

Marilyn is believed to be six-years-old. The black and white cat needs to undergo surgery, recovery and rehabilitation before she can be put up for adoption.

The medical costs are expected to exceed $3,500.

“We just want this beautiful girl to have the chance to live out the rest of her nine lives as an active, happy cat in a loving, forever home,” Prittie Bell said.

The BC SPCA relies on public donations to help animals in need of care.
