Police in Abbotsford say they arrested a driver after a “serious” crash involving multiple vehicles on Highway 1 Thursday night. The collision occurred in the eastbound lanes at the Brander Road rest area around 10:41 p.m., where officers found “several heavily damaged vehicles,” according to the Abbotsford Police Department. Police say a red Chevrolet Spark struck three other vehicles, including a semi-truck. The driver of the Chevrolet, a 33-year-old woman, was arrested at the scene on suspicion of impaired driving. She was also hospitalized with what police described as non-life-threatening injuries. The occupants of the other vehicles suffered minor injuries and did not require transport to hospital, police said. “AbbyPD is seeking witnesses who observed the collision or the driving behaviour of the red Chevrolet Spark prior to the collision,” the department wrote in a statement Friday morning. “Investigators are also looking for anyone with any dash camera footage that may have captured the incident or the vehicle’s driving behaviour leading up to the crash.” Those with information are asked to contact the department and reference file number 26-35609.
