Major crime detectives in Victoria are investigating after one person was found dead following a vehicle fire Tuesday. The Victoria Police Department says an officer discovered the burning vehicle in the 700 block of Queens Avenue while on their way to work at around 7 a.m. The officer called 911 and firefighters extinguished the blaze minutes after their arrival, police said in a statement. The statement did not provide any details about the victim or the vehicle involved. “VicPD cannot release further details at this time to protect the integrity of the investigation, which is in its early stage,” the statement said. Police are asking anyone with information or images from the area between 3 a.m. and 7 a.m. to contact investigators, particularly witnesses who may have dash-cam video recorded along Douglas or Blanshard streets. The area remained closed to traffic for several hours while investigators were on scene.
