While it’s getting more costly to rent in Barrie, the city is still seeing significant growth according to a new report. The rental platform Zumper says rent prices in Barrie have rapidly increased over the course of a month, faster than any other city across the country. It rose to the number seven spot of most expensive cities to rent in Canada, up 6.3 per cent. The average price is $1,870 for a one-bedroom rental unit in Barrie. It currently costs $2,010 to rent a two-bedroom unit in the city. Despite it getting more costly to live in, Barrie still saw significant growth of 7.5 per cent compared to last year in August. Montreal was the only other major Canadian city that also saw growth, while everywhere else, sales are dropping. The most expensive city to rent in Canada is Vancouver at $2,390 for a one-bedroom.
