Mounties in Maple Ridge say a driver was seriously injured after crashing into a moving train Monday night, but will survive. The local RCMP detachment says first responders were called to Haney Bypass and 225th Street around 10 p.m., after an eastbound vehicle veered off course, drove through a gate onto the railway, and collided with a train. Firefighters removed the 54-year-old driver from the vehicle and he was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, according to police, who add no one else was injured. “Significant property damage was sustained to nearby train equipment and signage. CPKC Police were notified and all trains were stopped to allow for emergency services to work safely,” Maple Ridge RCMP wrote in a statement Tuesday. “Officers spoke to potential witnesses on scene and are looking into all possible factors.
