Mounties in northern British Columbia are searching for the driver of a pickup truck that investigators believe struck a pedestrian who remains in hospital in serious condition. The Prince George RCMP says officers were called to the collision scene in the 1700 block of the John Hart Highway just before 12:30 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 9. Officers found the victim—a man wearing a reddish-brown hooded sweater, dark pants and a red backpack—in the northbound lanes of the highway. The highway was partially closed for several hours as investigators analyzed the scene and gathered evidence. The investigation remains ongoing, police said Wednesday in a statement accompanied by images of the truck they suspect was involved in the crash. The pickup is described as an early 2000s Ford F-150 SuperCrew. The vehicle has a two-tone colour scheme in navy blue and grey with aftermarket running boards and oversized tires, according to police. Investigators are asking anyone who recognizes the truck or knows where it is to contact the Prince George RCMP non-emergency line or submit an anonymous tip through Northern B.C. Crime Stoppers. “We are currently looking to speak with anyone else who may have witnessed what occurred that evening or who may have dash camera footage of the incident or of the highway conditions immediately preceding the incident,” Cpl. Jennifer Cooper said in the statement.
