Comedian Bill Stiteler has a knack for appreciating things other people may find too ordinary. He’s turned this gift into a career. The Pittsburgh-based man travels around the world and writes lyrics about what he sees in different cities and uses AI software Suno to turn his words into songs. His approach involves plenty of walking — and very little homework. “I pride myself in doing very little to no research when I go to a town,” Stiteler said. After a stop in Thunder Bay, Stiteler spent three days exploring Saskatoon. “I love the name, Saskatoon. I was just curious and that’s what brought me there,” he told CTV News. Stiteler focuses on the everyday details that catch his eye. The song’s chorus declares “Saskatoon is for lovers,” with shout-outs to the downtown Gandhi statue and Nutters Everyday Naturals on Broadway Avenue. His next stop was Regina, where Just Bins and Roughriders fans wearing watermelon helmets made it into another song. The Saskatchewan songs join a growing catalogue. Stiteler’s most famous hit is the Puerto Rico song, with more than six million views on TikTok and 22 million streams on Spotify. “The Spotify royalties are calculated every six months. So I’m just about to see my first drop of money from the Puerto Rico song — I’m so curious,” he said. Stiteler has landed a brand ambassadorship with Suno. He’s been making content full-time for the past two years. How it started The travel songs grew out of an account he started in March 2024, following the Pittsburgh Pirates. As he followed the baseball team on the road, Stiteler discovered people were more interested in the places he visited than the actual games. A song about Toronto’s Dufferin Mall helped his account take off, drawing millions of views and shares. “This strategy of being an outsider and going into new places and just experiencing things as it greets me really works,” Stiteler said. Stiteler is currently in New Zealand, making videos, but he has plans to return to Canada and write more songs — with Red Deer and Moose Jaw at the top of his travel list.
