It was a busy Saskatchewan Day for Saskatoon emergency crews, with firefighters responding to three different structure fires. Firefighters were first called to a garage fire in the 800 block of Spadina Crescent around 8:30 a.m. Monday. They arrived to find smoke and flames coming from a detached garage. Crews used hoses to extinguish the exterior of the garage. A search confirmed nobody was inside, and there were no injuries. A fire investigator is working to determine a cause and damage estimate. Around 10:20 a.m. crews were called to a home in the 500 block of 5th Avenue north. Occupants of the home met firefighters upon arrival. Crews found smoke coming from a furnace room and used fans to remove smoke and toxins from the home. The fire was extinguished and there were no injuries. A fire investigator is looking into the cause and working on a damage estimate. Fire crews were then called to a house fire in the 700 block of Gordon Road shortly before 6:00 p.m. They arrived to find smoke coming from the home. A search found no occupants inside. Two pets were found and removed by firefighters. Fire crews used hoses to extinguish a fire inside the house. Adjacent homes were tested for toxins before residents were allowed back inside. There were no injuries to report. A fire investigator is looking into the cause, origin and damage estimate.
