A heat warning is in effect for all of southern Saskatchewan on Friday, with temperatures expected to reach up to 36 C. According to an alert from Environment and Climate Change Canada (ECCC) around 4:18 p.m., maximum daytime temperatures will reach between 32 C to 36 C, with minimum overnight temperatures expected to reach 16 C to 18 C. The heat warning will be in effect from Friday evening until Sunday, when a cold front moves through the area. ECCC advises residents to protect themselves and others, as extreme heat can affect everyone’s health. The weather agency says to check on other adults, those living alone and other at risk people. Early signs of heat exhaustion include headache, nausea, dizziness, thirst, dark urine, and intense fatigue. ECCC urges residents to drink water often, close blinds, turn on air conditioning or use a fan wherever possible, and schedule outdoor activities during the coolest parts of the day.
