The 34th annual Windsor-Essex Pride Fest is on! It runs from July 31 through Aug. 9 with a wide range of activities. It started Friday with a ceremonial flag-raising at City Hall, attended by dozens of dignitaries. “This year’s theme is ‘Show Your Colours’ so we’re bringing every facet of our community together to celebrate and to feel safe and to be yourself, [across] all different age groups,” Pride Fest Co-President Mel Lucier told CTV News. “A majority of the events are free, so there aren’t many barriers to come out and just enjoy.” Here is a brief outline of events: “Our diversity is our power,” Co-President Mel Lucier said. “There is no single way to be part of this community, and that’s exactly the point. This multi-coloured flag we are raising is a symbol in this community, in this country, and around the world.”
