The man convicted of killing a 24-year-old Edmonton woman 30 years ago has been sentenced to life in prison. Brayan Boucher would have been 22-years-old when the woman was found strangled to death in her Edmonton apartment on Christmas Day. A publication ban prevents CTV News Edmonton from identifying the woman. He was arrested in June 2023 after his DNA matched a DNA profile from the case, which sat cold for 27 years as forensic evidence technology caught up. Boucher pleaded not guilty to first-degree murder but was ultimately convicted after a four-week trial in June. On Thursday, he was sentenced to life in prison, less 1,143 days credit for pre-trial custody. He will be eligible for parole in 25 years.
