Prime Minister Justin Trudeau has confirmed he will meet with the Royal Family during their visit to B.C.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge will arrive in Victoria on Saturday for their week-long trip to the west coast.
On Friday, Trudeau announced he and his wife Sophie Gregoire Trudeau will participate in the official welcoming ceremony at the Legislative Assembly.
“Canadians have tremendous affection for the Royal Family, and are excited to welcome The Duke and Duchess to our nation for their second official Royal Tour of Canada," Trudeau said in a news release. "Sophie and I look forward to showcasing beautiful British Columbia and to promoting awareness of both youth and mental health issues alongside Their Royal Highnesses.”
More than 25,000 people are expected outside the Legislature on Saturday.
On Sunday, the Prime Minister and his wife will accompany Will and Kate on a tour of the Immigrant Services Society’s new Welcome Centre in Vancouver.
Later the four will attend a youth reception where they will meet with young Canadians who are making a difference in their communities.
Both couples will also visit the Kitsilano Coast Guard Station for a first responders showcase. They will tour the facility and speak to first responders about the issues they face in their daily work.
