The Ottawa Police Service is investigating after a woman was sexually assaulted while pushing a child in a stroller on a pathway in Ottawa’s east end. The incident happened at approximately 5 p.m. Tuesday in the area of Truro Street and Carpenter Way, near the Aviation Pathway. Police say the woman was pushing a child in a stroller while walking on a paved pathway when she was approached by an unknown man. “The suspect, who was armed with a knife, sexually assaulted the woman before fleeing the area,” police said. “The victim was transported to the hospital, where she is receiving support.” Police say the suspect is described as a white male, approximately 40 years old, with a medium build and a dark beard. He was wearing a black hoodie with front pockets and brown shoulders and sleeves, faded blue jeans and brown tennis-style shoes. Police say he was English speaking, “with no noticeable accent.” Investigators would like to speak with anyone who was in the area of Truro Street and Carpenter Way at approximately 5 p.m. on Tuesday or has doorbell or security camera footage of the area.
