Barrie police say a driver took off on foot, moments after speaking to police on Tuesday. Around 5 p.m. police attended a call for a male who was slumped over in the driver seat of his vehicle in the area of Lougheed Road and Athabaska Road. Fire and Paramedics services also attended the scene with police and when they arrived, they found the man passed in his vehicle, with the vehicle still running. Police say they were able to wake him and have a brief conversation with him, just before the man took off running. With the help of canine officers, police were able to locate the man a short while later. The 38-year-old Oro-Medonte man was then arrested and now faces charges of operation while impaired, failure or refusal to comply with demand and driving under suspension.
