Emergency crews are responding to an active fire in an apartment building at the corner of Bruce Avenue and Crawford Street in South Porcupine. The building is located on the southeast corner of the intersection. Traffic diverted Bruce Avenue is closed east of Crawford, and the intersection is impacted. “Drivers are asked to avoid the area and use an alternate route while emergency crews work safely,” the City of Timmins said in a social media post shortly before 5:30 p.m. Multiple agencies on scene Social media reports indicated that local police and paramedics are also at the scene. The city said an update will be provided once the area is clear. CTV News did reach out to the city for more information on the fire and emergency response. In response, Amanda Dyer, the city’s corporate communications coordinator, confirmed crews were still on scene as about 6:45 p.m. “We will coordinate a press release tomorrow morning,” she added in her email continued.
