Edmonton police are looking for a 42-year-old man and his two children. Scot MacDermid was reportedly last seen with his children, George and Lesley, at Manning Town Centre on Aug. 28. MacDermid stands five-feet-five-inches and weighs about 160 pounds. He has brown hair and blue eyes. Six-year-old George is about 4′2″ weighing 45 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. Lesley, 9, is described as being 4′4″ tall, weighing about 45 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes. Police say MacDermid has been unreachable and he and his children have not been seen or heard from since Aug. 28. CTV News Edmonton asked the Edmonton Police Service why an Amber Alert has not been issued in the investigation. “An Amber Alert is a public notification that can only be issued under specific circumstances that are established provincially. Police activate an Amber Alert when all activation criteria have been met. “The EPS can confirm that an Amber Alert was considered in this investigation; however, the activation criteria are not met at this time. An activation may be reassessed if new information is received or there is a relevant change. As this remains an active investigation, we are unable to provide further details regarding that assessment.” EPS pointed to the province’s website for more information on Amber Alerts.
