A dispute between neighbours that police say has reportedly been ongoing for several months escalated into a physical altercation in North Bay, Ont., leaving one person hospitalized and two people facing charges. North Bay Police Service said officers responded to a residence in the area of High Street and Galt Street after the dispute turned violent. In an email to CTV News North Bay, a North Bay police spokesperson, Jennifer Cross, confirmed the incident occurred on Sept. 20 at about 8 p.m. One stabbed with knife “The dispute escalated from a verbal disagreement to a physical altercation, during which a knife was brandished and one person was stabbed,” police said in a news release Monday. Local police reported that one person was transported to hospital for treatment. “When a disagreement turns physical, there is a real risk that someone can be seriously hurt,” said acting deputy chief Jeff Warner. “Officers responded quickly, brought the incident under control and began the investigation.” Two accused face multiple charges As a result of the investigation, a 56-year-old local man has been charged with criminal harassment, assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm, assault causing bodily harm (choking, suffocating or strangling) and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Additionally, a 53-year-old woman also from North Bay has been charged with assault with a weapon, assault causing bodily harm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose. Police said the man was held in custody pending a bail hearing, while the woman was released on an undertaking with a future court date. “If you’re dealing with a problem that makes you feel unsafe, contact us and report what’s happening,” added Warner.
