A 55-year-old-Birch Island man driving a jet ski faces several charges after a marine collision July 4 police said in a news release Thursday. “At approximately 10:00 p.m. police and paramedics responded to a reported collision involving a boat and a personal watercraft in McGregor Bay, within Whitefish River First Nation,” police said. “The operator of the boat sustained non-life-threatening injuries, and was transported to hospital while the operator of the personal watercraft left the scene prior to police arrival ”. Police charged a Birch Island man with dangerous driving, failure to stop at an accident resulting in bodily harm and failing to give the name or person in charge of the vessel. The man is to appear in court Aug. 25.
