The vice-principal at Lake Cowichan Secondary School is off the job, but school staff haven’t explained why.
Brent Zimmer hasn’t been seen at the school this week.
A provincial database shows the long-time educator is the subject of a disciplinary and professional conduct inquiry.
Zimmer has signed an undertaking not to practice until a hearing takes place.
The Cowichan Valley District is remaining tight-lipped on what led to the inquiry, the superintendent would only confirm that Zimmer isn’t working.
The provincial Ministry of Education say it’s “aware the Cowichan School District is dealing with a personnel issue.” It says it’s providing support as requested through the safe school program.
The program can deal with anything from stubbed toes to serious assaults.
