A U.S. judge has relaxed some of the release conditions handed to a Vancouver Island man accused in a brutal sexual assault of a Denver woman.
Colby Messer was released from a Denver jail in March on a $300,000 bond, but CTV News has learned that has since been lowered to $200,000.
Messer also no longer has to wear a GPS tracking device and has been given permission to leave Denver.
He’s now currently living in Seattle, according to Lynn Kimbrough, Denver District Attorney.
Court documents allege Messer and friends flew to Denver to go to a football game in November when they met the woman at a bar.
She said in a sworn affidavit that she doesn’t remember how she got to the hotel but remembered being naked in a hotel room and sexually assaulted with a lamp, remote control and telephone.
Messer’s next court date is a motions hearing in Denver on Nov. 28.
