A four-vehicle crash closed part of Highway 2 northwest of Wetaskiwin on Saturday. The crash was reported near the overpass at Highway 616 at about 12:30 p.m. RCMP said a driver on the highway rear-ended a Sheriff’s cruiser that was stopped in the left lane after pulling a driver over, RCMP said. Two other vehicles driving on the highway were then hit. The vehicle that had been pulled over was not involved, RCMP said. Mounties said the Sheriff was in their cruiser when it was hit and only minor injuries were reported from the crash. The northbound lanes of Highway 2 were closed for several hours. RCMP said on Monday the investigation into the crash was ongoing.
