Barrie police have shared more details about what happened Wednesday afternoon during an assault in the city’s downtown. Officers were on patrol in the area of Bayfield Street when they were notified by bystanders of a man nearby with a wounded ankle. In speaking to the man, police learned the 42-year-old had gotten into an altercation with another man in an alleyway between Bayfield Street and Maple Avenue. RELATED: Man stabbed at Five Points in Barrie, Ont. The man told police during the altercation a knife was thrown at him and struck him. The man was transported to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived and police say, despite canvassing the area, they were unable to locate him. Police say the investigation is ongoing.
