Oak Bay residents are urged to stay alert after police received three reports of a cougar sighting early Monday morning.

The big cat was spotted around Musgrave at Dewdney streets at around 6:45 a.m., according to Oak Bay police.

A search of the area turned up nothing and officials suspect the cougar may have gone into Uplands Park.

The city’s parks department placed warning signs around the park to remind people to stay cautious and vigilant.

The BC Conservation Officer Service has been alerted to the sightings.
